Classic shoot-'em-up Gradius 5 will be re-released today for PlayStation 3, publisher Konami has announced.

Eurogamer's Martin Robinson just got very excited.

The game will launch as a digital download via the PlayStation Store, priced at £7.99.

But there's no word on a launch for PlayStation 4 (or PlayStation Vita).

The horizontal scrolling 'shmup originally launched for PS2 back 2004.

Gradius 5 was developed by Treasure, the studio behind other classics of the genre such as the Sega Saturn's Radiant Silvergun, plus the Dreamcast and GameCube's Ikaruga.
